Vintage Zeiss Ikon Camera

Does anyone else like to shoot with film? Are you a vintage camera freak?
Tell me what kind of cameras you use. I have a Leica M3, Rolleiflex (medium format TLR), Rolleiflex 35 and Zeiss Ikon. What do you prefer about film over digital?
Yup, I use almost entirely film for all my pictures. 35mm and medium format. I also develop my own black and white film, and I set up a darkroom to develop prints.
And I’m definitely a vintage camera freak! I have a HUGE collection of antique cameras…I’ve lost count of how many I have now. I have 35mm rangefinder cameras, SLR’s, TLR’s, a few folding cameras, antique Polaroid Land cameras, and I even have a bunch of 8mm movie cameras. The oldest camera I have is a Kodak Brownie 2A box camera, from the 1920′s! It works and actually takes surprisingly sharp pictures. I can use 120 roll film with it, and the negatives are HUGE…they look almost panoramic. I love making contact prints from them.
I prefer film because it’s just a lot more fun and challenging. Also, vintage film cameras have a much more solid and reliable feel to them. There’s something awesome about using an all metal and glass camera with a real mechanical shutter. When I take a picture and hear the snap of the shutter, I know I have just permanently burned a moment of time on film. It’s there forever…there is no delete.
You just don’t get that kind of satisfaction with a wimpy plastic digital camera.
