Vintage White Strat

Can you age a white Humbucker?
I have a white trembucker pearly gates that I must have in my fat strat fender. I put it in a Fender mint pickguard. It stands out like a sore thumb. I would have bought a vintage white humbucker, but Dimarzio has a patent on this double cream pickup. I know that there are methods of yellowing single coil covers, any that you know of for humbuckers?
Hello there,
Yes there are processes for aging any part of the guitar. I think I have some links saved. I will see if any of those discuss the processes for pickups.
By the way, you said you have a trembucker for your Strat. Before you age it, you may want to check the string spacing. As I recall, the trembucker line has Floyd Rose string spacing. Those are designed to work with Floyd Rose style bridges and do not fit a Fender style bridge. So before you alter the pickup and change its resale value, you may want to check the string spacing to see if it will work on your guitar. I am guessing that if your really do have a trembucker spaced Pearly Gates and have a Fender tremolo, the string spacing will be wrong. If so, you will need to sell that pickup and get one with the proper string spacing.
Later,
Hello again,
If you do need to relic your pickup, try steel wool and tea. You can give it a worn look and take the new shine off with the steel wool. Tea show give it an aged stain.
