My boyfriend tries to get me to dress a certain way?
My boyfriend dresses a certain way: a lot of bright colors, stuff that doesn’t match, lots of patterns, etc.
I also dress a certain way: classic vintage, lots of black and white, very matchy, etc.
Well, he’s always trying to get me to dress like him.
Example:
Yesterday, I went to his apartment so we could walk over to our swing dance together. I was wearing pinstripe pants and a silky black shirt. I didn’t have time to put on matching socks, so I wore mismatched socks thinking no one would see them. Well, he accidentally saw them and started rolling up my pants saying things like “everybody should see this, it’s so cool!”
Then I was like “I look ridiculous” because, really, his style looks good on him, but not me. And he was like “No you don’t, you just look like you’re dating me.”
How do I tell him that I don’t want to wear his style because I have my own and that he shouldn’t try to change me?
just tell him, he should understand. and your style sounds awesome.
