Help with re-writing a classic story?
I want to re-write “A gift of the Magi” just for the fun of it, but I want it to be completely different at the same time. I am having a hard time trying to think of two items to base the story on. I cant do a pocket watch for him, and combs for the woman’s hair.
Any suggestions on what I could do? I was going to base it on her wanting to buy a part for a vintage car her husband was restoring, but I saw a movie remake that used the same concept. Also, any ideas on how the couple could first go about trying to obtain the money before deciding to pawn their beloved items?
Like I said, this is just for fun. But if I ever decide to publish it, I want it to be the same, but original at the same time. If that makes since.
(got the idea while searching for the Mickey Mouse cartoon version of the same name, for my nephew to see)
maybe do a vintage clock, or still do the car but a different one.
