Vintage Maps Calendar

The Nokia design team entered a time warp when they thought of the Nokia C5, tough its traditional candy bar shape may bring back memories of old when everyone had a Nokia 3210, it still feels fresh; the phone has been loaded with a super fast processor, a digital camera and the beautiful display measures at 2.2 inches and has QVGA pixel resolutions, they have remained quite conservative with the grey and white colour variations and Nokia have packed a load of Ovi goodies in there to enhance your user experience.
The full alloy body gives the Nokia C5 a sophisticated, reliable feel, the 2.2 inch screen looks very bright and though it is not the biggest of displays it does a great job of showing off web pages and photos. The 3G device utilises the Symbian S60 operating system, for seasoned Nokia users this will re-create a familiar user experience, you get you basic well formed menu layouts and the home screen supplies you with some info bars for e-mail and calendar and you get some contact shortcuts for direst access to your favourite people. There are dedicated applications for Facebook, IM and your e-mail accounts so catching up with friends can be done instantly from your menu, you can also access your music player and the internet.
You can set up multiple e-mail accounts with Exchange, Gmail and Nokia’s free Ovi Mail, and providers like Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail can also be managed from the comfort of your own hand. Instant Messaging is a good source of communication; you can take advantage of live chat services from Ovi Chat, Google Talk and WindowsLive Messenger. A great feature on the C5 is the Facebook integration, your friends have there status updates logged and displayed in the contacts list so you don’t have to open the actual application to check out your friends latest happenings.
Unfortunately the Nokia C5 lacks Wi Fi but thankfully it does pack 3G; it will deliver high speed web connectivity, it is consistent and reliable. The Opera browser has an in-built Adobe Flash player and the D-pad makes it surprisingly easy to navigate web pages. The phone has a YouTube application so you can check out your favourite clips and upload a batch of your own captured by the phones 3.2 mega pixel camera; the camera has a LED flash, the focus is handled by the Extended Depth of Field (EDOF) technology and the 4x digital zoom will handle close ups quite well.
The Nokia C5 can record VGA videos at roughly 15 frames per second; it will handle your basic amateur film maker needs but don’t be expecting an amazing performance. The Nokia C5 can support tons of different file codec’s; the music player will easily play mp3′s and WMA among others and the video player will easily manage mp4 and avi along with a whole list of other codec. The Ovi Music Store offers a great supply of downloadable tunes to keep your selection fresh and the memory can be expanded up to 16GB via the microSD slot so there is loads of space. Nokia have loaded the C5 with a set of navigational services; Ovi Maps does a great job and the A-GPS is very reactive and the service lets you choose from a birds-eye or 3D turn-by-turn view.
The Nokia C5 is a vintage device with a traditional, yet modern design and sophisticated software package, the application based interface is a familiar experience to those who are loyal to the Finnish company and with a web browser, digital camera and full media centre, with an FM radio the Nokia C5 has tons of appeal. By the design and functionality of the device it seems Nokia have tried to focus the phone towards business users and the professional community; it will find success in these sectors but I have a hunch that it will find some fans among the working class too.
