how to get a vintage 1930′s wardrobe?
I am 13-14 and trying to update my wardrobe with a few key pieces inspired by the fashion of 1930′s to 1940′s. However I am not sure how to go about this. I like things like flapper dresses, mary-janes, the green dress Keira Knightley wore in atonement etc.
thanks in advance

Flapper dresses were popular in the 20s, which tended toward a more boyish figure. Dropped waists, low heels, cloche hats, long strings of pearls or other long necklaces were common.
Other than that, for the 30′s soft and floaty, florals, cut on the bias, with a more natural waistline. Dresses that were backless to just below the shoulder blades were popular. It was very feminine. Narrow skirts reaching mid-calf and tops that have a floppy bow at the neck are very 30s. Oxfords with a 2-3 inch heel were worm by most women.
For the 40s; square shoulders, skirts to the knee, military style detailing. The fabrics tended to be a it heavier, and the cuts more masculine. Blazers, blouses, ties, and minimal jewelry. Low heeled pumps.
Women in both eras wore gloves and hats when they went out. Stockings were also a must.
If you take some of these and apply them to modern clothes, you can get a vintage inspired look. Throw in a few true vintage pieces for a unique feel.
