Beach Cover-up Styles

The summer season is here and for many it means beach season and bathing suits galore. Most people wear more than one bathing suit per summer season, as there are many attractive designs and colors available. However, there is one piece of beachwear that is as important as the bathing suit – the beach cover up. The beach cover up is the first thing people will see you wearing, and the last thing you put on while getting ready for the beach. This is why it is so important to select the right style and design to coordinate with our bathing suit, as well as a style that will accentuate our silhouette.

There are many styles and colors of beach cover-ups, and many designs to suit every budget and taste. Colors range from fun bright summer colors to more neutral or discreet ones. Patterns range from fun designs, to feminine florals, to solids. No matter your taste, there is one cover up for you.

Cover-ups styles have evolved, as they have become more popular, and not a second thought anymore, as they used to be. You can find beach cover-ups now in the shape of sarongs, tunics, two-piece with shorts, chemise, rompers, short dress styles, strapless styles, short two-piece skirt, long tanks, capris, long dress cover up, draped, tie-dye oversize shirts, Kimonos, Hoodies, jumpers, Hawaiian mini dresses, long silky ruffled tops or skirts, bohemian shirts, and many other styles.

Most beach cover-ups are made of very lightweight fabrics, to make it easier for your skin to breathe during the hot summer months. Some popular fabrics are silk, cotton, rayon, terry towel, linen, and breathable cotton open weave crochet.

You can find styles at Wal-Mart for $8, Victoria Secret Styles at ranges from $24-$70 and many on sale or you can opt for high-end designs that will be more costly. However, with so much to choose from you do not have to break the bank and you can select a suitable cover up that will match your body shape and bathing suit to be perfectly styled during the summer. If you are more adventurous, you can try to make one yourself, if you have sewing skills. You can follow some easy style examples or using a towel(s) to make your own. You can also use one of your boyfriend’s light shirts as a cover up by making some slight modifications to it.

When it comes down to cover-ups, the styles, and designs are limitless, and you can get as creative as you want. Another tip is to shop at consignment or thrift shops for vintage styles at bargain prices, or find alternatives that you can modify to give them a more up-to-date look. The choice is up to you.
