Vintage Chanel Bag Red

vintage chanel bag red
are my designer bags real? Chanel + Louis Vuitton?

I was recently given 2 bags but im not sure they are real. the LV bag is a small papillon, witht the old cherry design, and red snakeskin style handles. inside, there is the louis vuitton paris made in france logo, with a serial number of m51385 (i think). the serial number is on a different colour leather to the rest of the bag, which is why im doubting its authenticity. i know they stopped using the cherry design a while ago, so it could just be old.

the chanel bag is just the plain quileted design, with the gold chanel logo on the front. there arent any handles with it, but the chanel logo on the inside flap is reversed, which chanel did in many of the old bags. the overall bag looks quite worn/used, so im thinking it may just be vintage. there isnt no tag or sticker inside and no made in france logo either. theres no logo on the zipper ether.

if anyone can help it would be great :)

The LV sounds like it might be real. Older styles of LV’s tend to be real as they weren’t counterfeited until recently. As little as ten years ago LV was considered suitable only for little old ladies and their market was very small. There was no money in fake LV’s as they weren’t considered desirable. Old LV’s have a warmth and softness about them, especially in the leather on the outside of the bag. Any leather inside tends to be a bit lighter as it doesn’t develop the same patina as the outside.

The Chanel I’m not as sure about. If it is older it’s possibly real, but not a signature bag that was sold in the boutiques. It could be a gift bag, one that was given away as a gift with the purchase of fragrances or cosmetics. I have a couple of these as a reward for my love of Chanel No19. It could also be a cosmetics bag from the cosmetics line, these weren’t made to the exacting standards as the signature bags. Nevertheless, these gift bags are still Chanel, and that’s what counts.
