How do you carry a rifle with a frame backpack?
Wild Boar is open year round in California.
I have a friend that claims he knows a place that has Wild Boar…BUT is is very remote. We will have to walk for the better part of a day to get there.
I have a vintage Kelty Frame pack that my father and much older brother used for backpacking in the 1970′s.

(Actually, mine pack is a Youth Model {I am a very small man, five foot four, 109 pounds} and it is red, not green)
I own a Browning Lever Action Carbine (20″ barrel) in .22-250, with a 3x-9x Scope, and a leather strap.
I am trying to figure out the best way to carry it. I don’t want it rattling and banging against my pack the whole way.
Strap a rifle scabbard to your pack. You could probably improvise one from a nylon rifle case or buy something like this. These seem to be pretty well made, and will protect your rifle. The straps should give you a way to attach one to your pack.
