Is all art marketable?
I like to do replicas of vintage and antique graphic designs such as print advertisements and posters. For example if i see a poster or advertisement that I like , I reproduce it as closely as possible by hand. Is their a market for that? like is it legal for me to sell my work? or is that somehow plagiarism.
The term is “copyright violation.” It’s not illegal for you to make close copies of old art for your own use. Selling them is a different matter. If they’re still under copyright, or if they contain trademarked images, they don’t belong to you and you can’t sell them.
I’m sympathetic. What you need to do is read up on copyright and trademark law for visual artists, then make sure any work you do to sell is based on originals that are too old to be in copyright, and you’re not duplicating any current trademarked images.
