How can I dispose of my mother’s clothing?
My mom passed away 2 years ago. Since then, I have taken sixty 30-gallon trash bags of her clothes to the Salvation Army. On my last trip there, they requested that I not bring any more. I’ve tried FreeCycle and Craigs List. The few women that responded flipped through 4 or 5 garments in the closet, then said, in effect, “This really isn’t what I’m looking for.” One group of women from a church thrift shop stopped, took one look and responded. “We only take DESIGNER clothes!” and left in a huff. My mother was 76 when she passed and she bought most of these clothes in the 70′s and 80′s, so they are too old to be modern fashion and too new to be “vintage” added to the fact that they are designed for the more mature woman. Consignment shops and today’s young ladies only want the latest designer fashions. I still have three huge closets of clothing to dispose. It seems a shame to throw them out. Any advice?
