Vintage suitcases allowed on airlines?

I am traveling on an airplane for the first time. I want to use one of the older style, vintage suitcases. Is this acceptable? Also, I get that you can take a purse and a carry-on bag, but is that it? My trip is several months long and I probably want a larger bag. Do they just charge extra for this?

The vintage suitcase is fine as long as you comply with the size and weight restrictions of the airline. As you don’t tell us this we cannot help you other than to advise that you look at the airline’s website. In general terms, the number of cases you can take and their weight will depend on the airline and the class of travel. Same for the hand luggage. You will have to pay if you take more than your allowance and it is often cheaper to prepay than turn up at the airport and hope they wont notice. Check bag sizes as well as total weight allowance and number of bags.
