Why is it offensive to use religious-style arguments to defend a lack of faith?
It comes off as rude to explain the gaps in the theory of evolution by saying, “Nature works in mysterious ways.”
If I quote the Origin of the Species to explain everyday phenomenon I would be dismissed as a troll.
I can’t claim that belief in science & evolution is the only truth without sounding arrogant.
But I believe all these things, and these are the types arguments used against atheists and evolutionists – so why the double standard?
Because as a person of some rationale, you are required to find better reasons than “nature works in mysterious ways,” no matter how mysterious it is. That statement implies that nature has a conscious will, and is using it to manipulate we humans and our surroundings. If this is what you think, you might as well call it god.
