How do the elements of art and principles of design combine to represent a specific style of art?
Man those are some fancy words, “elements & principles & specific”….hahaha. Most artists don’t think that far ahead or in that manner unless we are on anti-depressants!!!!!!……”the word design” suggests a predisposed idea,….some of us have those and yet we can’t get around our own styles long enough to perfect anything. Each artist, no matter who he or she is, has their own style,….style isn’t something you copy, it’s something you already have and others try to copy. to design something is sorta like making a boat,…Ok you know you’re gonna make a boat but how will this one be different?…it’s almost like a supernova, it’s just an idea that explodes on the scene in a moment’s time. the use of line work, long flowing lines or short curvy lines or sharp angles or whatever happens is just the result of an effort in your mind….if somebody likes it?…then someone else does too and tries to copy that idea?…but it’s not really the same?.then that’s style!…..if this happens long enough to one artist and it becomes popular over time?…..then that’s “design style” or a “school of thought” if you will. The so called principal is “having dinner and paying bills”….Ok I’ll give you a “wrok ethic” but that’s all I’m gonna admit to………We need to eat and drink?…..then we work, if it comes out good and somebody likes it and buys it (that’s called luck) and there’s a market to support it?.then we do it again,….thats where the combination comes in…….I really hope this helps because any artist who claims to paint under some superhuman ethic is just a wanna be that people look at and say “wow I’m gonna buy that” without knowing that the artist isn’t really an artist but rather someone wanting attention…..and we all want attention right?…..well working artists don’t really want attention cuz we’re too busy trying to keep the bill collectors away and it’s more likely we’ll meet a bill collector than an actual customer.
