My Mother is the total opposite of me and her friends hate me, so i keep away?

My Mom is Italian but she acts just like Fran from the Nanny (a loud mouth simpleton heavy accented Jewish NYC MOM) She lived in a jewish community so she picked it up.
Me on the other hand grew up in a irish/hispanic/italian area.
I went to a top art college. My whole life is about art. I have no NY accent and find them annoying. I went with her and her friend to the musuem because they asked me to since I know alot about art. They started saying that the abstract art looks like a baby drew it and look how dumb andy warhols art is and anyone could do that even a baby. People were turning around and giving dirty looks. I explained to them how the colors and textures go together and it takes talent to do they just laughed at me.Her friend started giving me nasty looks.
My mom doesnt understand things like Tofu, soy Milk, pop culture, etc.. She ignorant, she says women who go to a guys apt alone deserve to get raped, stuff like that
I stay away from her now, am i right?

My mom and I have similar problems when it comes to her friends. If you love your mom and want to spend time with her, you should just forget about what her friends think about you. Just try to be nice and get along with everyone. Or if you want to spend time with her, try to set something up where it’s just the two of you. Maybe you can talk to her about things like tofu and soy milk while she tells you some things about what she likes.
