My IPod won’t work in my car stereo?

I have an older, I think 2nd generation 40 gig IPod and recently upgraded my care stereo at ‘Car Toys’ I like the system but when I plugged my IPod into the system it said NA/USB. I checked my car system stereo manual and it said if NA/USB pops up in the auto display window your IPod may not operate unless it is a USB Mass Storage Class. I’m miffed………..so it looks like after spending $1,700.00 on my stereo I’ll have to invest in another IPod? Other than that, the system is really kick ass.

for some systems (depending on the head unit brand) you will have to buy a special adapter “box” for the system to be able to play your music and control the play with the head unit instead of the iPod itself. Most new systems aren’t being made to be capable with old apple equipment because of the unique format that older iPods play with. A new iPod may not work either so be careful to check a friends iPod first or something along those lines.

Alternative is to buy a big storage USB flash drive and transfer music on to that. Make sure you create files on that drive tho to ensure you get max storage space rather than just putting music on in a free-for-all mix. Plus this will make it easier to navigate songs on the head unit.
