Do you think it’s an ok idea for my band to try a pop punk cover of 5,000 miles by the Proclaimers?

My and my best buddy in the world are starting a punkish rock band and what actually brought us together is that the same girl broke both of us this year and I still go to bed fucked up every night because of it. I thought this song would be perfect because it’s exactly how she made me feel before she ditched me for another guy and probably wont speak to me again. And you know, the guy that sang that song actually ended up commiting suicide. I think it would be a nice fit since it has a very poppy beat that can be twisted into alternative punk pop, might need to tweak the tempo a little bit though(think the descendants, early Greenday, punk os Sublime etc)

Well your description is wrong in so many ways, also it made you look like a queer. The proclaimers are indeed BOTH alive and neither have committed suicide. Also, unless you live in Scotland do not cover this song, you will come across even more lame then your description
