How do I reset the date & time on my Acer Aspire?
I tried to reset the time & date on my laptop clock but it keeps going back to year 2006. What time zone should I choose since Philippines is not on the list of countries/ time zone? I’m just hitting the 2011 calendar on the lower left hand corner of my screen but it doesn’t work.
A pop up window shows up saying something like Google is not working because the time settings on my laptop is incorrect. I think it says AUTHENTICATION EXPIRY ERROR. I have BITDEFENDER but it has been expired. I tried to uninstall it because I already have AVG but I can’t uninstall it either. It says BITDEFENDER IS NOT RESPONDING. So how could I also UNINSTALL THIS?
The time zone for the Philippines is GMT +8 hours, pick a country with the same difference.
The reason it keeps resetting is either your CMOS(1) battery on the motherboard is dead or you have malware (2).

(2) The key words here are SAFE MODE!!!
Download, (if you can’t get on-line, have a friend download and copy to disc/flash for transfer) install, update and then, in SAFE MODE* run full scans, with these programs…

Then re-start.
If you can’t run a scan, go into the scanner’s folder and re-name the .exe file to something like ‘MyFile.exe’ and try in safe mode again. Some malware prevent the execution of anti spy/mal/virus scans by blocking them by name.
You should consider getting a good Anti-Virus program.

*Note: On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight ‘Safe Mode with networking’ and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the Administrator password (if you don’t know it, there probably isn’t one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.
**Note: Malwarebytes should be run in ‘Normal Mode’ unless that isn’t possible!
