Is it safe to use a photo organizer software that scans your computer for image files?
services such as Shutterfly and Picasa from Google now offer software that will organize all your photos, but to do so, they have to scan your entire system. Is it safe to allow this? Do not have access to all files your computer?
You take a small but measurable risk any time you load a program that (a) examines the system and (b) communicates with the outside world. You can also take a risk, small but measurable when you give your money from a bank and ask them to keep it to yourself. In the case of Google and Shutterfly, trust them. If I had to download software from an unknown source, would not. It comes down to the reliability of the source of the software is for you. Hope this helps!
