What are some good classical composers in your opinion.I dont want to be a classical light weight.?
I am open to all types of music. I really love classical piano though I play guitar. I need some good composers to listen to stuff that will last a million years from now if you know what I mean. Old and new is welcome. Thanks
First of all… Good for you. Hang on tight this is a long and at times bumpy ride…
You have to start off with the core of the classical music canon. In terms of piano, solo and concertos start by taking a look at Beethoven. His 32 sonatas and 5 concertos are the standard by which all others are judged. Then Mozart -he wrote 27 piano concertos… 9 to 27 are the embodiment of the Classical Style. Each unique and beautiful.
If you love piano music… Chopin is definitely going to be on your list. Start with the Nocturnes and the Ballades.
No list of classical music recommendations would he complete without a mention of Bach. There is almost nothing that he wrote that is not deserving of a place in any collection.
Finally – don’t forget the Symphonies… these are the grandest and most far reaching of classical music forms. Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Haydn are all a must.
