The Comancheros (50th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray Book] $9.99 Nobody made a fuss about The Comancheros when it came out, yet it has proved to be among the most enduringly entertaining of John Wayne’s later Westerns. The Duke, just beginning to crease and thicken toward Rooster Cogburn proportions, plays a veteran Texas Ranger named Jake Cutter. When we first see him (in a tongue-in-cheek delayed entrance), he’s catching up with a New Orleans dandy (Stuart Wh… |

The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts: Dean Martin $6.40 The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts were a fixture on the NBC Thursday night lineup from 1973 to 1984. In those 11 years, Dean and his panel of pals successfully ridiculed, embarrassed and made fun of legendary stars like, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin himself, to name a few. Over the past 20 years, the roast format has really become sort of an American folklore, set at… |

The Alamo: Original Uncut Version [VHS] $4.99 John Wayne drew on what he learned from John Ford, Howard Hawks, and practically everyone who directed him during his long career when he made his own directorial debut on this labor of love. The Alamo is a sprawling, unabashedly patriotic epic of the sacrifice made by 187 men defending the Alamo from Santa Ana’s bigger and better equipped army. Wayne stars as Col. Davy Crockett, the straight-talk… |

Hondo (Full Screen) $3.92 Although scarcely seen in its original 3-D, and entirely out of sight for a decade and a half after its producer-star died, Hondo has maintained a high rep among John Wayne fans–and it wasn’t even directed by Howard Hawks or John Ford. (Actually, Ford did shoot some second-unit stuff while visiting Wayne on location.) Half-breed Hondo, companioned only by an antisocial dog, tends to be more sympa… |

The Four Complete Historic Ed Sullivan Shows Featuring the Beatles $5.99 A great concept: The Beatles appeared four times on CBS’ The Ed Sullivan Show, and while one is tempted to skip through this collection to watch only the Fab Four’s 20 performances, there is historic value in seeing Sullivan’s complete programs. With America reeling from the murder of a popular president, JFK, less than three months prior, the Beatles’ Sullivan debut on February 9, 1964, ushered a… |

The Heart Is a Drum Machine $9.62 As easily as the term “music” may seem to be defined at first glance, its true meaning manages to vary widely among both musicians and listeners, as seen in this fascinating documentary from the producers of the 2004 hit “Moog.” Among those interviewed and asked to define their experiences with music are George Clinton, Britt Daniel, Nic Harcourt, Kurt Loder, Juliette Lewis, Jason Schwartzman, Eli… |
