can a nintendo 64 controller be used as a classic controller on the wii?

i want to download the legend of zelda: ocarina of time on the wii store but it says i need a classic controller or a gamecube controller but can a nintendo 64 contoller be used instead?

NO! It wouldn’t even fit, would it? I wasn’t happy when I got OoT for my wii and I couldn’t afford a classic controller.

Just buy a gamecube remote, they’re not too expensive. Remember, to get it (the first player) to work, it has to be in the port closest to the front of the wii.
