What is this classic novel?

We were watching the movie for this in English class on a rare free day, but I forgot what it was called…
In it, a rich man adopts a gypsy boy he found on the streets. He has a son and a daughter, who eventually falls in love with the boy. The son hated the gypsy. The people suspect that the gypsy is the man’s bastard son, and the boy is persecuted.
The man sends his son away (for tutoring I believe) but on the man’s death, the son returns and sets the gypsy as a servant.
Though the gypsy and the daughter plan to run away, she is injured by a dog and must stay at her neighbors, and she returns less wild and more “proper”.
There’s more, but that’s as far as we got. What book is this?

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I take it this was the old Hollywood version starring Laurence Olivier. It’s a good version but not complete or entirely accurate as far as the book is concerned.
