Classic books in German for toddlers?
I am looking for titles of classic German books – for reading to a 2-3 year old. Not Grimm’s fairy tales. Not Hans Christian Andersen. Are there German equivalents to Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Childrens Garden of Verses”? (not literally – I mean timeless, sweet bedtime reading…in German)
That’s difficult for kids that small. But you can read Beatrix Potter books to them. While she is an English author, her books are published in German. “Die Mäuse in der Brombeer-Hecke” for instance. And there’s always “Der Struwwelpeter”, “Der Suppenkaspar” and stuff like that. Search on Amazon. I know they deliver to the US.
