Artificial Christmas Tree Storage Box

What might be in my artificial tree? It looks like pieces of dried fruit of some kind.?
I just got my Christmas tree storage in the barn and not all branches dark balls. It really looks like a type of dried fruit, but I have no fruit on the tree last year. It really seems that something has blocked in the box and things for the tree. This is not a nest of dirt Dobber I know what are the ones that could be another type of insect or creature. What cold all my Christmas tree.
Hard to say without a photo. But it might be a matter of throwing and get a replacement.
