Simon And Garfunkel Tickets – Spring North American Tour

There will be no sounds of silence starting this April 24…that is except for the hit song. Simon and Garfunkel are taking the stage this spring for a 13-date trek across North America. It all begins at the New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival and it will eventually wind around to stops in Saint Paul, Minnesota; Fargo, North Dakota; Madison, Wisconsin and Detroit, Michigan, with the rest of the concerts being held in Canada. The inspiring folk duo Simon and Garfunkel parted ways in 1970, but have reconvened on a few occasions for reunion tours that have spurred great enthusiasm among fans. According to Pollstar.com, their most recent collaborative Old Friends Tour wound up grossing over $2 million per city. I mean who hasn’t seen The Graduate, anyway? Where have you gone Simon and Garfunkel…a nation turns its lonely eyes to you. According to Rolling Stone, for their tour, the duo will choose mainly from an extensive list of songs from their classic catalog, although fans will also be privy to some of their individual hits as well. Feeling a bit nostalgic for “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Only Living Boy in New York” and “Mrs. Robinson?” Well now would be the time to ensure that you don’t miss out on live performances of these timeless classics.

Plenty of Simon and Garfunkel covers have been attempted; some have even turned out fairly well but nothing beats the original. Most recently, the pair appeared at the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden and gave attendees a special treat with an energetic rendition of “Cecilia.” For those who missed out, your chance to see them live is just around the corner.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel struggled in their beginnings. Their acoustic debut album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. was a flop upon its release, falling under the radar of potential fans and critics alike. Then, in 1965, folk rock started sweeping across the globe. “The Sound of Silence” was eventually grabbed from Wednesday Morning 3 A.M. and livened up with a bit of electric guitar and some drums. Before long it was a sensation, and it would ultimately become one of their more iconic hits, along with “Mrs. Robinson” after being featured on the soundtrack to The Graduate.

Fans will often point to their final studio album together, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, as their most dynamic record. It stayed atop the charts for ten weeks and featured four singles including the title track, “Cecilia,” “The Boxer” and “El Condor.” Adventurous and ambitious, the record seemed to break boundaries for Simon and Garfunkel and for the industry as a whole. It turned out to be their last collection of brand new material, but in a way it was a fitting departure for a pair of hopeful musicians, who started out on shaky ground. Don’t miss the chance to see them take the stage one more time for another encore.
