Art For Life Anderson

art for life anderson
Which tense to use in an essay for English class?

I know you’re supposed to use the same tense throughout the whole essay, but what about in the introduction and conclusion? I know the body should be present tense, but couldn’t you use the past tense for the introduction and conclusion, since it’s more of an overview; not describing what actually happens in the book?

By the way, the essay is about the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson for English class. This was officially one of the worst books I’ve ever read, besides the Twilight series and The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult. Melinda annoyed the crap out of me. But, I digress. The topic is:

What does Melinda’s garden symbolize in her life? How is it parallel to her recovery? What about her tree in art class, how has it developed along with Melinda?

No, You should write everything in present tense.

If the voice sounds familiar, that may be because a couple of tracks have been featured on The O.C., while Frou Frou’s “Let Go” appeared in Garden State. (Frou Frou is a collaboration between Heap and producer Guy Sigsworth.) Her sophomore release, after a UK-only debut, is a fine showcase for the singer/songwriter’s swooping vocals. Her style, which incorporates layers of multi-tracking, lies som…

Great Expectations (1998)

The key ingredient in this modern-day version of Charles Dickens’s classic is director Alfonso Cuarón, who made the glowing, estimable A Little Princess. If you saw that (and you should), understand that Expectations has those ingredients (great sense of time, place, and timing) but adds modern music and sex appeal; the latter personified by the long-legged Gwyneth Paltrow. Finnegan Bell (Ethan…

“All I know is, the Democrats elected a president, and the Republicans cheated ‘em out of it!” No, this is not a Michael Moore documentary, but a 1968 Disney musical. The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band is probably the best musical comedy set against the 1888 presidential campaign between Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. The family band, a bit like American prairie Von Trapps, s…
